Future of Energy Camp TO GO
The Big Idea
Five modules. One powerful future. Every investigation is carefully crafted by expert educators, so campers trace energy from the water wheel to the data center and meet the people who power it at every stop along the way.
- Grades
- Built for grades 6-12A guide and hands-on investigations that challenge middle and high school learners to think like energy engineers.
- What's Inside
- 18 hands-on investigations with every material except water, labeled and ready to use. Plus a full-color printed Camp Guide and access to the online digital guide with instructional videos for every activity. No prep required.
Safety
- CHOKING HAZARD. Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
- Do not eat any of the materials in this kit, and wash hands after handling chemicals.
- Safety glasses are recommended when mixing materials.
- Adult supervision is recommended.
Want the LIVE experience? Join our LIVE Future of Energy camp week with a virtual teacher and a crew of other curious learners from across the country, with the kit included.
What’s in the Kit

Real-world connection
Real Energy Industry. Real STEM Careers.
Campers build their way through energy history, from the water wheels of the 1700s to the data centers powering AI today. Every lesson includes a Career Connection, and in 2026 campers met professionals working in engineering, finance, utility operations, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and energy innovation.
The Results Speak for Themselves
In 2026, 212 students registered for camp, both virtually and in person. After camp, 94.1 percent reported greater confidence applying engineering concepts, 93.7 percent reported a better understanding of energy, and 91.5 percent reported more interest in energy careers. Among parents who responded, 96.6 percent would recommend it.
Industry Partners Help Make It Real
Companies and organizations across the energy industry can sponsor camp for learners in their community or join a LIVE camp week as guest speakers, sharing the work they do with the next generation of energy professionals. Every partner helps a learner see a future they may never have imagined.
The five modules
-
Origins
Investigate the past, engineer the future. A sail car, a water wheel, a hand crank generator and a self-watering garden.
-
Extraction and Expansion
Unlocking the power beneath our feet. Fossil fuel formation, a working pump jack, controlled release and a motorized fan.
-
Industry and Scale
The systems behind the power. A conveyor belt, circuit tiles, power line protection and fuel on the move.
-
Transition
Innovating energy for a changing world. Turbine comparison, solar optimization and a carbon capture lab.
-
The Future
Energy now moves at the speed of information. Cooling the cloud, a smart streetlight, and a plan for your own energy future.
