Grades
Select your camper's grade when you order. The missions stay the same, but the challenges grow with your camper. Explorers (K-2), Innovators (3-5), and Trailblazers (6-12) each get their own age-appropriate activities and guide.
What's Inside
20+ hands-on activities with every material except water, labeled and ready to use. Plus a full-color printed Camp Guide and access to the online digital guide with instructional videos for every activity. No prep required.

Safety

  • CHOKING HAZARD. Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
  • Do not eat any of the materials in this kit, and wash hands afterward.
  • Always wear safety goggles when mixing materials.
  • Adult supervision is recommended.

Real-world connection

Real NASA Missions. Real STEM Careers.

Every activity is inspired by real NASA missions and research. Campers design habitats for life beyond Earth, build a water recycler modeled on the system aboard the International Space Station, and build a helicopter inspired by Ingenuity, the first aircraft to fly on Mars.

Every lesson also includes a Career Connection, so the camper who loves the magnetic launch rail discovers the engineers who design maglev systems for a living.

The missions

  1. Arrive and Investigate

The crew lands somewhere nobody has mapped and surveys it before touching anything. Terrain, weather, resources, and a planet profile they fill in themselves.

  2. Establish a Base

Shelter, power and clean water, none of which exist yet. An inflatable habitat, a wired power grid, a sprout station and a water recycler.

  3. Sustain and Grow

Keeping people alive once the base stands. Oxygen generation, chemical seaweed, circuit sculpture and light.

  4. Explore the Unknown

Going further out. A wind-powered car, crystal growth, thermochromic slime and a helicopter that actually flies.

  5. Discover the Next Horizon

Launch, and what comes after it. A magnetic launch rail, rocket fuel chemistry, a hydraulic gripper and an orbit tracer.

Questions

Do we have to join a LIVE camp or club to use this?
No. Everything you need is in the box, so you can run the missions at home, in a classroom, or at your site, on your own schedule. Want a LIVE teacher? Join our LIVE camp in the summer or the NASA ASTRO CAMP TO GO Club during the school year.
What is the difference between a camp and a club?
NASA ASTRO CAMP TO GO is one program with the same kit and the same five missions, and it runs two ways. As a camp, learners complete the missions over a single camp week, either during one of our LIVE camp weeks or at any time of year on your site's own schedule. Due to the overwhelming popularity of our LIVE summer experience, we also offer it as a club during the school year. Clubs run in nine-week sessions throughout the school year, with new sessions starting in the fall, winter, and spring. Each club meets once a week, and a LIVE virtual teacher leads every class. Either way, every learner receives their own kit with 20+ hands-on activities, and the extras go home so they can keep exploring.
How do the LIVE camp and Club work?
In the summer, campers join our LIVE camp week with a virtual teacher and Q and A sessions with subject matter experts. During the school year, the NASA ASTRO CAMP TO GO Club meets once a week for nine weeks with a LIVE teacher, in person at a host site or virtually from home. Both are optional. The kit is a complete purchase on its own.
Which kit should I pick?
Choose by your camper's current grade. Explorers is for grades K-2, Innovators is for grades 3-5, and Trailblazers is for grades 6-12. Every kit follows the same five missions, with activities and a guide made for that grade level cluster.
Is it aligned to standards?
Yes. NASA ASTRO CAMP TO GO is aligned to NGSS Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Life Science, and Engineering Design.
Do I need a science background to lead it?
No. Every lesson includes background information, step-by-step directions, and instructional videos, so anyone can lead camp with confidence.
What else do I need to buy?
Nothing. Every material is included except water. No shopping lists. No supply runs. No hunting for materials the night before.
