Ozobot Evo
Evo is the palm-sized robot the Around the Neighborhood program runs on, and it works on its own just as well. Students drive it by drawing Color Codes in marker, with no screen at all, then move up to Ozobot Blockly or Python when they are ready.
Sold and supported by Central Creativity, an official Ozobot reseller. Choose the Entry Kit for a single robot, or a Classroom Kit to put a bot in front of every pair of students.

Ozobot Evo

The screen-free coding robot · grades K–5
Coding that starts with a marker.
Evo is the size of a golf ball and reads color drawn on paper. A child who cannot yet type can program it on the day it arrives, and the same robot is still worth having three years later, when that child is writing Python. It is the robot behind Around the Neighborhood with Evo, and it stands on its own just as well.

Five reasons Evo belongs in your classroom
One small robot that turns a sheet of paper into a coding lesson, and keeps earning its place all the way up to Python.

Students draw Color Codes on ordinary paper with the markers in the box, and Evo reads them as it drives. A whole class is programming within minutes of opening it — no devices to hand out, no logins to reset, no lab to book.
The robot that follows a marker line in kindergarten runs Ozobot Blockly and Python in fifth grade. Nothing gets outgrown, and nothing gets bought twice.
A polycarbonate shell, an hour to a full charge, and firmware that updates itself. The classroom kits arrive with a charging cradle, labelled stickers and cases, because a cart of robots needs somewhere to live.
Ozobot Classroom is free and runs in a browser. No per-seat licence, no annual subscription, no line item that reappears next budget season.
Evo has been picked out by education and design juries six times since 2018.
- Tech & Learning Best of Show at ISTE 2019
- Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence, Best of 2022
- Educators Pick Best of STEM, Winner 2023
- Best Homeschool Curriculum, Products & Resources, 2024–25
- Mom’s Choice Awards 2023

Under the shell
Small enough for a palm, serious enough for the work
Every sensor in Evo is there so a student's own program can do something real with the world in front of it.
Read the Color Codes drawn underneath, which is what makes screen-free coding possible at all.
Track a drawn or printed black line and hold it through corners and junctions.
Object detection. A program can respond to what is in the way instead of driving into it.
Lights a student's own code can set — usually the first output anybody writes, and still the most satisfying.
Sound and feedback, programmable from Blockly.
About thirty feet of range to a tablet or computer.
Strong enough for the floor it is going to end up on.
About sixty minutes to a full charge.

One robot, or one for every pair

How students code it
Start with a marker. Finish with Python.
The same robot, the whole way up. A five-year-old and a fifth-grader can both program Evo on the day it arrives.
Screen-free, with Color Codes
Students draw a sequence of colored marks on paper with the dual-tip markers in the box. Evo reads the sequence as it drives over it and does what it says: turn, wait, change speed, light up.
- No device needed at all
- Works on any paper or a printed activity sheet
- The Color Code chart is the whole reference
On screen, with Blockly and Python
Ozobot Blockly is a drag-and-drop block editor in the browser. The same robot takes Python too, so a class that outgrows blocks does not outgrow the hardware.
- One computer or tablet with internet access
- Blocks first, then text, on the same robot
- Programs load over Bluetooth

The lessons
Over 700 lessons, already written for you.
Ozobot Classroom is free, runs in a browser, and is full of standards-aligned lessons for every robot on this page. No licence, no seats to count, nothing to renew.
- Computer science. Sequencing, loops, conditionals and debugging, from Color Codes on paper all the way to text.
- Math. Measurement, geometry, counting and operations, with the robot as the thing being measured.
- Science. Investigations where the robot is the instrument or the subject, mapped to NGSS performance expectations.
- Reading and writing. Story-driven lessons, writing prompts and discussion activities that happen to involve a robot.
The lineup
Two robots. Pick the right one.
They all read the same Color Codes and share the same free lessons. What changes is the grade range and how far the robot can go.

The ones people actually ask
Do we need tablets or computers?
Not for the core of it. Color Codes are drawn on paper and need no device at all. Lessons that use Ozobot Blockly or Python need one computer or tablet with internet access, and those lessons are marked.
What grades is Evo for?
Grades K–5, and the Entry Kit is marked for ages 4 and up. Older students are better served by Ari, which adds a touchscreen.
How many students share one robot?
Two works well. Beyond that the robot spends more time being watched than driven, which is the argument for the 12 and 18-bot kits over the 6.
Is there a subscription?
No. Ozobot Classroom, the lesson portal, is free and has over 700 standards-aligned lessons in it. The price on this page is the whole cost.
Does this work with Around the Neighborhood with Evo?
Yes — that program is built on this robot. The curriculum kit is sold separately and does not include a robot, so you need both. You can add one in a single step on its page.
How long does a charge take?
About an hour. The classroom kits are built around a cradle that tops up the whole set between lessons.
