Classroom To GO Units

Properties of Matter Physical Science

Properties of Matter explores how scientists describe and classify matter based on its physical and chemical properties. Students learn how substances dissolve to form solutions and how mixtures can be homogeneous or heterogeneous. They also investigate density, buoyancy, and thermal energy to understand how matter behaves.

NGSS: 5-PS1-1 5-PS1-3 5-PS1-4

Matter and Its Interactions Physical Science

Matter & Its Interactions focuses on how substances interact and change during physical and chemical processes. Students learn how reactions can produce gases, create energy changes, or form new substances. They also explore how materials interact with water and how engineers design solutions by testing and improving ideas.

NGSS: 5-PS1-3 5-PS1-4 3-5-ETS1-1

Organisms and Ecosystems Life Science

Energy in Organisms and Ecosystems explores how energy moves through living systems. Students learn how plants release water through transpiration, how decomposers break down organic matter, and how energy flows through food chains from producers to consumers. They also investigate how organisms depend on one another to maintain balance in ecosystems.

NGSS: 5-LS1-1 5-LS2-1 5-PS3-1 5-ESS2-1

The Universe and Its Stars Earth and Space Science

In this unit, students investigate how scientists study space and the objects within it. They learn how constellations appear to move due to Earth's rotation and how forces like gravity, thrust, and air resistance affect rocket launches. Students also explore how technology such as rovers and satellites helps scientists study other planets.

NGSS: 5-ESS1-1 5-ESS1-2 3-5-ETS1-1

Earth's Atmosphere and Hydrosphere Earth and Space Science

Earth's Atmosphere and Hydrosphere explores how Earth's air and water systems support life. Students learn about the layers of the atmosphere, how water moves through the water cycle, and how much of Earth's water is usable by humans. They also investigate how filtration systems clean water and why conserving water resources is important.

NGSS: 5-ESS2-1 5-ESS2-2 5-ESS3-1

Earth's Resources Earth and Space Science

Earth's Resources focuses on how natural resources are used and how scientists develop more sustainable energy solutions. Students learn about renewable resources such as biofuels and hydrogen energy and how processes like electrolysis can produce clean fuel. They also explore environmental challenges like climate change and ways people can reduce impacts on Earth's systems.
